[[hard talk]]

14:50 if you are not enjoying the present moment, you can have it all, but still fucking dislike it. Old people in Hawaii example. Friends over his mansion example. So much anticipation.. but when you get there you still complain. You revert back to your normal.

Missing timestamp: Go visit a lot of stuff in your own city. You probably didn’t even enjoy that. It’s all free! It’s always an excuse to wait to be happy. ^2024-01-06T20-49-51

23:00 It’s not like rich people can just take time off. So don’t have that as an excuse.

Visit every nice place within 5 hours drive of where you are. Cross them off. Actually do them.

24:00 make the plan and it won’t happen. The first time you’ll be miserable and not enjoy it. Internet or in person tree it’s the same thing. Planning and preparation and transportation so many negative emotion. Sit at home. Slave mentality. Live and die unremarkably. It’s a training !!

What is actually cool to do in your neighborhood now?

Clubs

People

Restaurants

Cool things

Audit every cool thing you can do in your city right now.

26:30 Life is not awesome someday. It’s today.

28:00 Go around incredible people and don’t be afraid of it.

You know exactly what would happen: - You’ll be pushed to wake up - To have an awesome life - To be pushed out of the ephermal BS

But it was a bit too real, so they’ve hit from it.

29:30 Go do all the free awesome things first before the paid ones.

Go to Africa and watch animals kill each other

31:30 Make it real. Don’t spectate.

32:15 Personal Mecha - Muslim concept

Actual hard to do, require a lot of planning, requires expense

Choose to do 2 things over the next year.

Go somewhere expensive basically. - you’re not gonna do it - learning that you’re not gonna do it - even when you go, you don’t even like it

Fail forward and learn you probably won’t do it or be happy anyway.

Ready fire go. Goof it up!

36:10 Don’t find the perfect theory. Get out there and interact with people.

37:00 Most people will go on auto pilot and not go anywhere local. Every day is a blur for most people. Make every day that you can differentiated from the blob. Every day is the same bullshit for most.

38:30 Even if you live a life everyone aspires to, it can become boring, because they are not differentiated from others.

39:00 > > But I don’t wanna do it, I want to focus on my purpose, I don’t need to spend all this time on travel. Always striving never arriving

I’m gonna build the next thing.

If you actually go out and travel you feel like you arrived.

43:00 You’re afraid of arrival.

Found something too good, and you throw it away. Girls do this too, they’ll get bored of you if there’s no distance.

Addicted to striving means you’ll take self-sabotaging manevours to make sure you never arrive.

You’re gonna take all this action.. but never arrive.

Example of a guy always working.. let’s go X place. But he found a reason not to do. People love having their feeling of striving, striving, striving. You mess up with people you want to have good relationships with, unable to focus on a book that would change our lives, etc. Social media is basically a way to burn out all your opportunity cost.

Find 15–20 things to do near you.

You’re gonna win from this no matter how happens.

Always striving is gonna make you not enjoy traveling.

48:00 Owen fucked it up too. Going to the city a few days early from a nice place because he couldn’t handle the beauty of it. He just wanted to complain about it and not think about his impermanence.

When you go somewhere take it in, enjoy it.

And it might not happen for you. Because it’s automatic. But at least try.

The point of all of this is that you’re self sabotaging in your own life.

50:15 Get to a point when you’re just happy.

Let it land.

Be ready to win.

Means awesome interactions.

Get sight seeing, arrive, or you’ll be angry all day even though you get to 7 figures.

Focus on what matters and not all this dumb crap.

52:30 If you can’t look at a leaf in a park or the biggest tree in the world, you’re not gonna enjoy a lot of money or great relationships.

54:00 Owen never did anything outdoors in the winter.

So what he did: bought over 10,000 in winter jackets so it stings. Skin in the game. Come hell or high water. Throw the hat over the fence. If someone asks me why I did, I would just look stupid.

And it was one of the best things he ever did.

Then he tried to do it again so he can go hiking. And it worked again. Then he did it again for skiing. And even taught his autistic son to do it.

The idea is to break out of the cycle of self sabotaging.

1:00:20 Even if you’re great at self sabotaging, you’re a human being.

By default, you’re self sabotaging.

You already know

If you were to cut 99% of the thoughts you have in your life and actions you take and focus on 5 things, youd be very success.

Part of getting over self sabotaging is arriving. Getting used to it. Enjoying it.

Don’t look at that book on 6 figures. Just waste it on shit.

I won’t do this, I will strive for my project.. nah, you’re self sabotaging.

What do you have to do to force yourself to take massive action now and do some of these cool things now? These personal me has? How do you make sure they happen? Getting used to winning, arriving, and enjoying it? Winning, not self sabotaging, and being adapted to that.

Examples of how to get skin in your game

Accountability group?

Partner to do it with you

Hire a group?

Mentor other people?

Get more sad about the position you’re in. [[Anti-vision]]

Doing what your passion is for your job it means you’re limiting your potential to just that thing. No travelling girls etc.

1:05:00 Summary of a few minutes: Sacrifice a day from the blob for a potential of a better day.

Drive so you appreciate how big the country is. Not just a metal tube from one place to another. It becomes real. It has a grounding effect. And makes you connected to the earth. Get you out of this fantasizing world. You live in reality.
